Some people find that being a real estate agent is not for them and search for an alternative occupation. In many of the houses he rented, Phu Nhi Trac decided to do just this, and started a more lucrative career. Soon, he turned this enterprise into country’s biggest illegal marijuana operation.
With entry refused to her own house, a landlady took matters into her own hands and turned up at the rented home and blew the whistle on Trac’s illegal career. Hoses leading to the basement which housed the weed farm was the only thing she found in an otherwise empty house. The owner of the house expressed how distressed she was to find the illegal activities in her property. Does that surprise you?
After the landlady reported the business on her property the police discovered 54 farms stretching over the GTA, these farms had over 000 plants with an estimated value of $30 million. Between 2000 and 2002, Mr Trac and others in his group, of which he headed, using false identification defrauded over 50 house owners. Mr Trac was no amateur at this illegal enterprise, he knew all about the growing process, he even studied the market prices and searched for outlets to sell the crops.
Alleviating him of his real estate license last year, his jail sentence was handed down and now Mr Trac will spend at least 5 years in jail; he was sentenced to 14 years with some terms to be served concurrently. He didn’t just get away with a jail sentence, he also was handed out a $1 million fine, which will make a large dent in his purse.
Trac won a notable award for best producer of the branch office in the industrial commercial investment category, according to the ex-president of Living Realty, Mr Eric Chan.
After all, we have always recommended you to take the process of choosing an agent seriously. Whilst probably every real estate agent in Toronto does have hobbies, I can assure you, gardening is not high up on the list.
